Keep Christmas events animal-friendly
Show compassion to all animals
Christmas is a time when we should be celebrating and enjoying the festive period. Sadly, many event organisers continue to use live animals, as decoration.
Animals are living sentient beings with feelings, they are not props to be used as ornaments.
Like many of our animal friends, we also join the call to urge the council and organisers to cancel the forthcoming camel parade, in South Shields this December.
As part of the annual procession, there are ‘three wise men’ riding camels along Ocean Road.
Camels are amazing animals, within their natural habitat they are social animals who roam the deserts in search of food and water with up to 30 other individuals.
Spectacles such as these attract many crowds of people, therefore noise levels and bright lights are all contributors to stress and fear for these animals.
Christmas should be about compassion and kindness to all living beings and there are so many cruelty-free ways to enjoy one of the most exciting times of the year.
